Besides learning a better technique for "chaturanga," I learned something else as well.
I was having a problem where my butt wouldn't touch my feet in child's pose if I went from plank to child's pose, unless I moved my hands. So I had this dilemna of whether to move my hands each time or just not push back all the way into child's pose.
But then...
My teacher made a statement that affected me in more ways that just through yoga.
By telling me that my arms are a bit short (and when comparing with others, about half also had short arms!), everything made sense. I would no longer feel the need to overstretch my way into child's pose or wonder why my butt couldn't reach my heels. I would accept my arms and move my hands slightly each time.
What do we need to accept about ourselves in order to move past it and succeed in achieving our goals?
Do we need to let go of ego and let others help guide us? Or do we need to gain strength and learn to guide ourselves better?
What modifications can we make to lead the most enjoyable, fulfilling lives?
As Tim Gunn says, "Make it work."
