I completed another level this weekend for my 200-hour yoga certification - Yoga For Seniors.
For me, this level would be the most challenging in a unique way.
I love a yoga practice that makes someone feel strong, energized, and rewarded with skills that may not have been present the day before. This weekend was about practicing in a gentle manner. It was difficult to run through a yoga flow imagining myself 40 years from now.
My close friend, Diana, pictured here, was able to help me through this challenge. She is now considered a "Senior" and is advanced in her yoga practice. She helped teach me that "Senior" doesn't have to be thought of as a 90-year-old who can barely walk. "Yoga For Seniors" is really just a yoga practice that takes further precautions and is for those who want a gentle practice to those with injuries to those who want to be able to exercise in a way that is best for their joints and issues with aging.
I now welcome this practice as another option and understand the philosophy of yoga even more. Yoga truly IS for everyone.
