Not taking ANYTHING personally

"Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves....
Don't take anything personally."
"The Four Agreements"

Women, especially, are very emotional and seem to take things men say and do very personally. When a man calls the next day, they think, "Wow - he must really like me," but when he doesn't call for a week, they think, "He must not like me very much..." In reality, the man might have been really busy with work and that was the first moment he had to call! Or maybe he's dealing with some things internally that he needs to work through. Who knows! But it's not always about US.

Many times we compliment others when we're having a good day ourselves. When we aren't having a good day, we can be "haters" and aren't in the mood to raise other people's spirits. It has nothing to do with THEM.

Think about it...
I can always spot a Dolce & Gabbana dress...aaah I want this one!

Why a health counselor?

I've been asked whether I'm a Nutritionist many times. "Nutritionist" is a title that both Dieticians and Health Counselors call themselves.
Why would you choose a Health Counselor?

As a certified Health Counselor, I help clients understand WHY they're eating the way they are and WHAT to do about it.

"Are there healthy substitutes that still taste good?"
"How do I eat well when I'm so stressed?

Until just a few months ago, dieticians were taught the government food pyramid. I don't agree with that food pyramid since major subsidized foods are so high on the list. I also believe that each person has different dietary needs.
The pyramid has now changed to a plate, which is a definite step in the right direction.

Health Counselors are taught a different food pyramid with less dairy and meat, and more focused on the entire picture of someone's life.

When looking into schools and deciding whether to become a Health Counselor or Dietician, I chose the route that would teach me almost every dietary theory out there and the route that would allow me to choose the best "diet" for my clients since every body is different and has different needs. I chose to become a Health Counselor.

Understanding the emotions of it is such a big part of the American diet since so many of us are emotional eaters. Helping clients through all issues in their lives helps manage their weight and stress as well.

I am not against Dieticians in any way. I believe every person has something to offer.
It's all about finding the right fit. More questions about health counseling and the A+ Plan?

And I'm super into bold brows right now (as you might have been able to tell from recent posts with my pics).

If we accept ourselves as others think we should be, why are we living?

If we aren't living OUR lives, whose are we living? Remember, no one can be you as well as you can be. And you have so much to offer.

Older now and telling yourself that there is no point in exercising much or eating well anymore because hormonal changes are causing weight gain anyway? You will become that person if you let yourself. But you can set goals and achieve them, and be a "young" 65-year-old.

Or are you a 20-year old college student who is having sex because "everyone is doing it?" I read the recent stats and honestly, it's different to say "no" sometimes now!

Ask yourself WHY.

Think for yourself. Be brave. Be bold. Be you.

It's...dinner time!

Though not as enthusiastic answering the second time since I had to take out the camera, here's my son talking about his dinner. Kids are curious by nature so adding variety can make it fun for them!
