RUNWAY - Fall 2011 Part 3

PROENZA SCHOULER

What a BEAUTIFUL collection. I could see so many celebrities and socialites wearing these clothes, and so many "normal folk" wanting to. The richness, wearability, and ability to stand out in a crowd make these clothes unique and so polished.

Key factors:
the trending mustard, purple, cobalt blue, grey, black and burnt orange colors, as well as color blocking and blocking with movement of prints in hand painted velvet (wow!), silk, lace, macrame, fringe, and silk-wool blends
asymmetrical hemlines, high necklines
patterned sweaters, oversized blazers and slouchy pants
horizontal strappy heeled sandals, statement necklaces

PHILLIP LIM

So many colors, so many shapes, so much style! Phillip Lim, you are a fashion maven, and definitely in the "cool crowd."

I am obsessed with the large floppy bow on the mustard coat!

Key factors:
color blocking, and bright kelly green, orange, pink, mustard, navy, black, grey, bright cobalt blue in wool and silk, and prints that remind me a bit of Pucci
raglan sleeves, cropped tops, loose pants with slim ankles, boxy blazers
strappy gladiator-type sandals

RALPH LAUREN

Ralph Lauren showed glamour, sex appeal, and class.

Asian influence with prints, cut, and beauty
green, black, white, red in polished silk, velvet, black leather, tweed, fur, and in pinstripes
crisp white shirts, what I like to call "work pants," sheer black stockings, ankle strap platform heels

I have a black turban and whenever I wear it I have someone tell me that they could never wear it (wouldn't feel comfortable) but that I totally pull it off. What about you?

P.S. The red lips were hot!

MICHAEL KORS

So glad to see some bodies again with all of the loose pants and blazers. The fit and style of the pants were gorgeous, and no one else gave us such warmth and beauty to a solid outfit. With such varying textures, the outfits were styled beautifully. The deep v shirts were also fresh since so many collections have been filled with ladylike blouses, high to the neck. He obviously did what he wanted, and I love it.

Key factors:
grey/silver, white, black, red, blush, and plum in jersey, satin, sequins, silk, cashmere, fur, and leather
over-the-knee boots, ankle strappy heels again!
fur messenger bag
skinny belts

One negative? I'm not into the chokers (too '90's for me - some things should stay in the past - not ready for them yet), though attached to the dress, they are okay.
