RUNWAY - Fall 2011 Part II

This has been an AMAZING week so far, and I am getting really excited for Fall Fashion and it's not even Spring yet!

Turtlenecks will be big, which I am a major fan of:
Turtleneck Trend

And how are you feeling about the mid-calf length that is already starting to trend in skirts and dresses? With the right shoes, I am feelin' it, but no flats ladies!
Narciso Rodriguez is handing us sleeveless dresses in this length, and Donna Karan and Marc by Marc Jacobs (and Marc Jacobs) gives us the skirts.

NARCISO RODRIGUEZ

He's giving us serious cloth. With the masculine looks, form makeup to hair to simple cuts and colors, and prints that either sex would feel comfortable wearing, it blends both worlds.
Definitely loving the jackets and pointy-toed boots with slacks (pointy makes them so sleek).

MARC BY MARC JACOBS has done it again.

I am OBSESSED with this coat from Marc by Marc Jacobs.

The leopard and ladylike blouse trends continue, velvet stuns, and Marc stripes were a familiar consistency.

Key factors:
traditional fall colors (aubergine, navy, burnt orange, browns...) in velvet, silk satin, corduroy, sweater knits, and fur
"Blanket-striped outerwear," pantsuit, silk and mid-calf pencil skirts, ladylike blouses
the usual large buttons
lace up bootie shoes with ankle socks
hair: loose waves from a center part

RODARTE

The fit, flowiness, natural prints, and delicate lace and tulle gave new meaning to middle-of-America style. The high necks showed up here too, so after baring your chest in a bathing suit all summer, get ready to get covered up for Fall.

Key factors:
traditional fall colors (aubergine, navy, burnt orange, browns...) in wool, lace, tulle, silk twill, organza, and jacquard
layering different fabrics
polka-dot stockings
comfy beaded boots

 THEYSKENS' THEORY

Finally some fashionable denim and oversized suits and pants! You know you miss that part of fashion from the '90s (wink wink). Everything is loose, but yet it still looks so classy and fashion-forward. And the coats? Ummm....amazing.

Key factors:
dark red, grey, black, navy, and greens in sheer, denim, suede and leather, lace, wool and crinkled cotton
skinny paired with oversized

pointy shoes again!

DONNA KARAN

I've never seen attached hoods look so refined and elegant. Donna brings us back in time, combining the '40s and '50s with the '80s, and I LOVE it.

Key factors:
neutrals (plum, mauves, nudes), but they come off so strong in these rich fabrics: satin, jersey, fur, lightweight wool, silk crepe, and boucle
strong shoulders
lots of draping
over-the-knee pencil skirts
skinny belts and fur-trimmed suede long gloves

 CHRIS BENZ

I wasn't very familiar with this designer, but I'm already hooked from seeing a pair of his shoes a couple of days ago and now the collection.

 MARC JACOBS

I'm calling this "casual glitz" - sparkle paired with tops and shoes that make it a daytime look that surely stands out. This collection is not for the timid.

Once again, polka dot stockings were all the rage. And though mid-calf boots paired with slim over-the-knee skirts would be tough for most women to wear, what a great look for a runway. Showstopper!

The modern silhouettes were very "now" and I appreciate the metallic pants, slim maxi skirt, and futuristic skirt suit.

Agreed, this is a tough look to wear but if you like this look checkout this dress... http://us.asos.com/ASOS-ASOS-Midi-Length-Knitted-Dress/vkevz/?iid=1358466&cid=8799&sh=0&pge=2&pgesize=200&sort=-1&clr=Camel&mporgp=L0Fzb3MvQXNvcy1NaWRpLUxlbmd0aC1Lbml0dGVkLURyZXNzL1Byb2Qv

Cute but tough to wear in that fabric. You can see every lump and bump (The model has none, but most people...). I have a great cotton solid black version that I'm super excited to wear this spring.

Excited to try out this style?
