The 5k Race For The Penguins was a great success!
28 minutes 20 seconds!
The strain was feeling better this morning, so I decided to go all out and run my heart out.
I started the run with a different mentality. I usually focus so much on the run, on getting to the finish line. This time was different. This time I ran a steady pace and thought of it as a normal, every day run. I listened to the words of each song, and I enjoyed the run.
I was so entrenched in my pace and the music that I didn't see the 3 mile mark, so when I saw people on the sidelines, I asked a woman if I was close to the end, and she said it was just around the turn.
OMG!
So I jetted around the turn, dodging people to get through and was able to run fast for probably 3-4 seconds. I was saving my "fast run" and would've started 30 seconds earlier! As I crossed the finish line, I was glad I had beat last year's time, but I was frustrated that I didn't have the chance to mentally or physically prepare for the last 0.2 miles.
I could've beat my time by a minute or so! Grrr....
But in the end, I am glad I ran well, especially considering my injuries from last week, and I'm actually ready to challenge myself for a 10k soon!
Side Notes:
I am wearing 2 of Aiden's sweatshirts! It was cold and of course I only remembered to bring extra shirts for Aiden.
I think these pants make my legs look short in pics, huh?
I got a number this year! |
