Emmy Fashion 2012

From red to blue to black sequins and pale gowns, there were several trends of the night.

I was especially drawn to the coral and red dresses that shone brightly.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore Emilio Pucci. A few web sites commented on her abs and how they were enviable, and I'm sure they are, but this dress was way too tight and did not flatter her middle area. I LOVE the concept of the 2 piece though, and I think it was so interesting and different. Better fit and it would've been one of my top picks (would've been even more amazing on someone with some curves too!).

Christina Hendricks wore a Johanna Johnson dress and a Judith Leiber clutch. I thought she looked beautiful but the color was all wrong and made her look a bit ghostly.

RED / CORAL
Lea Michele wore a Marchesa red gown. If the sleeve were a bit less puffy, it would've been dynamite.

Kate Winslet wore a red gown as well, by Elie Saab. LOVED her hair, makeup, and the deep neckline. Add a belt to cinch her waistline and it would've been amazing.

Sofia Vergara looked youthful, fresh, and just dreamy in a Vera Wang gown and large earrings. THIS is how you do asymmetry and drapery to flatter curves.

Nina Dobrev wore a Donna Karan gown, Brian Atwood shoes and gorgeous jewelry. Her side swept hair and natural beauty reminded me of a mermaid mixed with royalty. The dress reminds me of a beautiful rose. Her look was definitely a favorite of the night. True star.

Sarah Hyland wore Christian Siriano and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. It was cute, and again, the asymmetrical neckline.

BLUE
Katie Holmes was STUNNING. Her hair reminded me of a special day of mine in my life, and the makeup and blue dress color brightened her complexion to the fullest. The Calvin Klein Collection blue silk crepe cinched waist dress was custom made for her, and it gave her that youthful, stylish look she so needed.

Dianna Agron also wore a beautiful blue gown by Roksanda Ilincic.

Continuing the satin theme, Olivia Munn wore a bright green Carolina Herrera dress. I think she is just beautiful, and I would've preferred her in a gown with great drapery. Vertical lines in satin, fitted to the body = a big no no.

BLACK / CHARCOAL
Julie Bowen chose a beautiful Oscar de la Renta gown and matching Neil Lane jewelry. The hair, makeup, jewelry, and dress...aaah....beautiful.... I do hope she's giving her body the nutrition it needs, but she did look beautiful.

Evan Rachel Wood chose an Elie Saab dress, Fred Leighton jewelry and Judith Leiber clutch. Love the strong shoulders and glamorous look...old Hollywood glamour.

Maria Menounos sparkled in Emanuel Ungaro, and she continued the hair trend of side swept and smooth.

Claire Danes wore the same thing she always does: strapless, straight, waist line that should be pulled up to flatter her body more, and a good blow out with her hair.  I do think the color pattern is interesting though.

PALE
Jayma Mays wore a pale pink Zuhair Murad dress and Neil Lane jewelry (like everyone!). I think the dress is gorgeous, and I do love a good pale pink with red hair, but the bright pink lipstick is something I could've done without. A sleek look with her hair and smokey eyes would've given the outfit a sultry look instead of so sweet and "pink."

Heidi Klum wore Christian Siriano dress (great for him with more than one star wearing his designs!) with vintage lace under a silk tulle and organza pleated skirt, as well as Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. I would've thought this perfect if she was having yet another child and was trying to accomodate that for the Emmy's, but with that body and the amount of choices she has, she landed on many Worst Dress Lists.

NAVY / DEEP PLUM (Jewel Tones)
Minka Kelly wore a lace Dior dress. I have conflicted feelings about this dress. I love it. But it could look a bit matronly. After staring at it for a bit, I realized what it needed...a bit more skin. Even though the lace sleeves made it a bit sultry, if the neckline had been deeper, it would've been one of my favs. The vintage appeal and beautiful layering of the lace were so beautiful.

Also in navy, Emily Blunt wore an Elie Saab dress. She wears her hair like this often, but it suits her so well! She looked so pretty.

You'll soon see how similar Kyle Richards looked to Kelly, in an Ines De Santo gown....

Kelly Osbourne wore a J. Mendel dress.

Jane Lynch wore a David Meister dress and Lorraine Schwartz jewels and looked just beautiful.

Which were your favs? Despise any?

I loved G.Paltrow's dress most of all. It was unique and stunning. I agree with some of your comments regarding minka kelly's gown. I believe her waist was too close to her bust line; I loved the color and vintage feel also. I enjoyed reading your comments on the dresses also. I always enjoy reading your comments .
