Is it just me or is only 1 out of every 20 pairs of sneakers actually comfortable enough to go running?
In "A+ Plan world," running season is just starting, as the sun starts a shinin' and the days are getting longer. Running just before or during sunset is so relaxing for me, and I cherish those times.
Now, I'm definitely not what you would call a "natural runner." As a teenager, I was actually diagnosed with "exercise induced asthma" and couldn't run more than a few minutes straight without getting shortness of breath.
But I would not let that stop me. It actually made me push myself more, and I ran my first 5k a few years later. That was such a proud moment, as I crossed the finish line (Beating the other people I was with didn't help either! wink wink). I will never be a marathon runner, and I am completely fine with that. Instead, I compete with myself each year, pushing to go faster with each race I complete.
To get back to the point, I finally found a pair of comfortable sneakers after searching several stores. Reebok RunTones!
A few kickboxing warmups....
...and then I was off for my first run of the season. It went pretty well, running for a half hour with only one 15-second walk break in the middle. I only have about a month before the Save The Penguins 5k at the Bronx Zoo. Wish me luck!
