I received a phone call from my mother on Thursday morning, and I knew it wasn't good. She told me that my grandfather had passed and that the funeral would be the following day.
I would later be traveling to the "Anatomy" course for the weekend since the funeral was going to be on Friday morning. But that didn't happen.
Everything fell apart. But I was supposed to be with my family...
...so everything could be put back together, at least as much as we could without my grandfather.
To my Grandpa Harry, family was #1, and that was proven this weekend when things just happened as they should've and we were all together. It's "funny" how someone can pass but they can still be there in such a strong way.
We all reminisced about the years my grandfather would say that we all knew he loved us and he didn't need to say it, when my mother would ask him why he couldn't just tell everyone that he loved them. But as he grew older, and after my grandmother passed 18 years ago, he realized that it WAS important to tell people how he felt about them, and even though his smile could say it all, it was so wonderful hearing him say those words...
I will forever cherish what my grandfather has given to me and so many others in this world and will try my hardest to pass down characteristics that were so important to him, like giving selflessly to those in need, showing respect and earning respect from others, and how important it is to just be a good person. He was also a pioneer in the chiropractic field, and he proved, in his 93 years, how key nutrition and fitness are in living a prosperous, fulfilling, joyous and healthy life until the end.
